Every year, on the evening of July 14, a sound and light show gives the Citizens a remarkable chance to participate in the eternal drama of the citadel under siege. Deafened by the din of fireworks, surrounded by the acrid smoke from bombs, they re-enact a timeless scene: an attack on the citadel,
"Trenceval will turn over in his grave", "it's going to be another Verdun".
